OUR ACTIVITIES

It’s All About Adventure

At Fenland Adventure we offer a range of land based activities specifically chosen to challenge guests and to provide a fun learning experience.

Participants will be split into activity groups which they will stay in for the duration, this allows our instructors to get to know each participant and ensure they get the most out of their experience.

Each activity session has a detailed risk assessment and operational procedure, these are reviewed annually by a suitably qualified person. Our instructors are trained and assessed to deliver each session and the equipment they use is maintained to the highest standard.

We operate on a ratio of 1 instructor to 10 guests. Our ratio increases to 15 guests when a group leader is on session, this is the perfect learning to safety ratio. Take a look at our sample activity programmes.

Our sessions give guests a taste of each activity, participants will be taught the basics and coached to improve. There are no pre-entry requirements for our activities.

Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge

Below we have provided a brief overview of each of our activities.

ARCHERY

Coordination, balance, concentration and focus are some of the keys skills required to be successful at archery. Guests will be taught to load, aim and shoot their bow at our targets. We will provide coaching to help guests get closer to the centre of the target. With a variety of games and challenges, you'll be sure to get better as you go.

BUSHCRAFT

Bushcraft or wilderness skills is the knowledge and practical skills required to survive in the wild. Our sessions focus on fire lighting and shelter building, two key elements to survival in the wild. Guests will be taught both friction and ignition fires and will cover fire safety.

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Mobile Climbing Wall

CLIMBING

Climbing takes place on our mobile climbing tower, this is a great introduction to the sport. All routes are equipped with autobelays, this is an automatic safety system which 'catches' and lowers climbers to the ground. Climbing is a personal challenge, however, our instructors will ensure those who have climbed before are put to the test!

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Crate Stacking

CRATE STACKING

In groups of 4, participants will be tasked to build a crate tower as high as they can. It sounds easy, however, they will need to be stood on the crates throughout! The rest of the group will be tasked with keeping the climbers safe, they will be taught to belay using a rope and a grigri.

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Giant Go-Karts

GIANT GO-KARTS

With a selection of ropes, barrels and poles, guests will be tasked with building a giant go-kart. Guests will be provided with a number of designs to choose from, each with their own merits. Once the karts have passed the safety test, guests will complete challenges to see who's is the best.

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Fencing

MIDI FENCING

A great session to develop confidence and independence, participants will be equipped in with a mask, protective vest and foil. They will be taught the basics, including a lunge, parry, riposte and of course, en garde!

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Orienteering

ORIENTEERING

Participants will be taught how to read and interpret a map, they will be shown basic navigation skills which will be tested on our onsite orienteering course. For more advanced groups, we will include compass work. Groups will need to successfully navigate to the correct 'control point', no Google maps here!

Outdoor Activities For Schools & Youth Groups - Pioneering

PIONEERING

Pioneering is a great activity for getting teams of people to work together, it requires a range of skills and guests will not succeed unless they work together. Guests will be tasked with constructing various structures with a set of basic materials, including bridges and towers strong enough to withstand the weight of the group.

PRIMITIVE TRAPS

Guests will be taught the art of setting a figure of 4 dead fall trap, it’s not as easy as it looks! The session starts with the group identifying an appropriate location for their trap. Participants will need good dexterity in order to carefully balance a heavy ‘dead fall’ on the sensitive trigger stick.

TARGET SHOOTING

Guest will be taught to load, aim and fire our .177 air rifles. Our instructors will provide coaching to get you hitting the target. If this is not your first time, don't worry, our range has targets to challenge even the best 'sharp shooter'.

TEAM BUILDING

One of the best activities for improving social and communication skills within a group. The group will be set a number of challenging tasks, each with a different key skill. Some tasks will require a leader, some will not, the group may decide otherwise. Guided by our instructors, we will be sure to see results.
